The easiest way to determine what upgrade options are available to you, is to visit our online configurator.
If you are wondering, for example, if you can add an LM-PRE4 to a 16 channel USB unit, just put those elements into the configurator and see if it allows that configuration. If it does, that upgrade is possible! The configurator also provides a roadmap for which card slot your upgrade module will be installed into.
When you look at the back of the Aurora, it looks like there are 3 bays with I/O. Some users have thought that the entire bay needs to be swapped out to upgrade. In fact, those bays are often two separate cards that have a single bracket covering them. In other words, if you have a unit with thunderbolt 3 connectors, and you want to upgrade to a module that goes underneath the thunderbolt ports, you do not need to replace the thunderbolt card. There is just a new rear panel bracket needed that will have punchouts for your new card AND the thunderbolt ports.
Most upgrades can be done by the end user. The only modules that cannot be user installed, or removed, are the LM-PRE4 and the DB-ADAT. Those need to be sent in to Lynx Studio, or a Lynx distributor, for installation.
This document provides instructions for how to install modules. It is always an option to have Lynx do the installation for you. There is no charge for this service.
You can order upgrade modules from a Lynx dealer, or from Lynx directly. It is critical to specify the configuration you are upgrading FROM, so that the correct rear panel bracket will be provided with the card
