We’ve tested the AES16e with 500 feet of Belden 1800B cable and data was passed bit perfect without errors at sample rates up to 192kHz. At 96kHz, the signal from the output after it had passed through 500 feet of cable still met the AES standard. This is well beyond the AES/EBU spec of 100 meters. In practice, it is probably best to keep the maximum cable run to under 500 feet to allow for additional noise injection from extraneous sources.
